Making a Difference in the Lives of Residents and the Community
The RWC Foundation was established in 1985, the same year Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury’s doors first opened. Its primary mission is to ensure that all lifecare residents can continue to live at RWC, even if their financial resources become exhausted.
Beyond providing financial assistance, the foundation also supports vital community programs. These include RWC’s Memory Care program, a Parkinson’s Support Group, and a Care Partners Group. These groups meet monthly, offering a space for residents to share the challenges of living with or caring for someone with dementia or Parkinson’s disease. Medical professionals and researchers regularly attend these meetings to share advances in treatment and best practices for daily living.
The Foundation also invests in the future of healthcare in the region. In 2022, RWC residents established the RWC Healthcare Education and Support Endowed Scholarship Fund (RHESES), an initiative designed to create a sustainable source of scholarship funding. This program helps build a reliable pipeline of healthcare workers for the Northern Neck while supporting high-quality care for future residents.
Revenue for the RWC Foundation is generated through an annual fund drive and generous donations from individuals and philanthropic organizations. The foundation also welcomes gifts from donors designated for specific programs, community offerings, or improvements to our campus buildings and grounds.
The generosity of residents and members of the greater Northern Neck community is truly the heart of RWC, and your tax-deductible donation can make a real difference. Please consider giving today. To learn more, call us at (804) 438-4877 or email the RWC Foundation at foundation@rw-c.org.
“Supporting the RWC Foundation is a continuation of my general philanthropy philosophy. It is a part of the fabric of my life to give thanks for my own blessings by helping wherever I can. As a life-long nurse, I am particularly committed to furthering the nursing education of any RWC employee who requests that assistance. I was lucky enough to go all through my own nursing education on a variety of scholarships. Nurses help other nurses.”

“By supporting the RWC Foundation, we have experienced firsthand the benefits of what the foundation has accomplished. Knowing that others can live at RWC as we do is why we continue our support.”

“The RWC Foundation is an integral part of our community. The Foundation ensures that all residents will have full care and services should they have financial reverses in their later years and can no longer pay monthly fees and costs. Additionally, the Foundation provides scholarships for those seeking to further their education through the RWC Healthcare Education and Support Endowment Fund. Residents are made aware of the Foundation and its benefits before moving to RWC, thus giving peace of mind to all residents.”
—Carl B.
“The nursing staff is a very important part of the RWC community whose services most residents will need at some point. I support the RWC Healthcare and Support Endowed Scholarship fund so that staff who want to start or continue their nursing education, but may not have the funds to do so, have that opportunity while continuing to work to support their families and RWC benefits by having access to an excellent nursing staff.”
