A Glimpse of Our History

Get to Know Who We Are

Founded in 1985, Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC) is proud to be part of the Northern Neck, often called the “birthplace of the nation.” Here, life moves at a comfortable pace. Residents enjoy the charm of small-town living, scenic waterways, and a close-knit community, all while remaining within easy reach of historic destinations like Richmond, Hampton Roads, and Washington, DC.

As a Virginia nonprofit affiliated with the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, RWC is rooted in a tradition of service, compassion, and community. People of all faiths and backgrounds are warmly welcomed, creating a place where connection and belonging come naturally.

Care Options for Whatever Comes Next

RWC serves residents as seamlessly as we want them to live their lives. Nestled away from the city, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of life on our picturesque campus. As a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), we provide independent living, assisted living, memory care, and on-site licensed nursing care, ensuring you have access to quality care should your needs change over time.

Our intentional service model is designed to meet residents where they are in their daily routines. To reduce the stress of coordinating health services, we offer everything residents need right here on campus. This leaves more time in the day for you to play some golf, go out on the water, or explore new interests.

Life at RWC is designed to be full of possibilities. And with a full continuum of care available should your needs ever change, you can enjoy today with confidence, knowing support is here for tomorrow.

At RWC, living comes naturally, and peace of mind comes with it.
