RWC announces winners of annual golf tournament benefitting its Foundation

There were several winners at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury Foundation’s 34thAnnual Open Golf Tournament benefiting the RWC Fellowship Fund held April 26 at The Golden Eagle Golf Club. But the biggest winner was the Fellowship Fund.

Players were divided into three flights.

  • First place, first flight winners: Neil Hoar, Troy Hall, Ross Summer and Jed Rasnick were sponsored by Chem Dry Bay Restoration.
  • First place, second flight winners: Ryan Hamm, Alan Hamm and Walter Klein were sponsored by RWC resident Jerry Hamm.
  • First place, third flight winners:  Mike Hux, Bill Cawthorn, E. G. Fleet and Larry Autry were sponsored by Piankatank River Golf Club.
  • First place, women’s flight winners: Ellie Davis, Molly Gatchell, Kathy Davidson and Joyce Mullins were sponsored by RWC Foundation Board member Ellie Davis.

Ryan Hamm, Alan Hamm and Walter Klein were sponsored by RWC resident Jerry Hamm.

Other winners include:

  • Men’s and Women’s longest drive: Ross Sumner and Ann Stanley
  • Men’s and Women’s closest to the pin: Austin Brown and Molly Gatchell

Twenty-seven teams (108 golfers) enjoyed a beautiful day at The Golden Eagle and benefitted an important part of our community at the same time,” said Don A. Nelson, head golf professional. “We are delighted to host the golf tournament right across the street from our neighbors at RWC.”

Mike Hux, Bill Cawthorn, E. G. Fleet and Larry Autry were sponsored by Piankatank River Golf Club.

RWC President Stuart Bunting expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming community and statewide support from participants, sponsors and prize donors.  “This tournament really goes a long way toward helping us achieve our Foundation’s mission,” Bunting said. “Since 1986, the Fellowship Fund has provided more than $6 million in grants to ensure that RWC residents can enjoy a lifestyle of dignity and comfort at RWC’s Total LifeCare Retirement Community. “

After the tournament, participants enjoyed a reception and awards ceremony at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury.
