RWC & Creating a Dementia Friendly Community Nov. 13, 2018

RWC invites you to attend a program on Creating a Dementia Friendly Community, Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 10:00 a.m.

Melissa Andrews, CEO/President of LeadingAge, VA will speak about Creating a Dementia Friendly Community at RWC, November 13th at 10:00a.m.

RWC invites you, as a leader within our community, to learn more about creating a Dementia Friendly Community.  A Dementia Friendly Community supports continued independence for adults with dementia by looking at life through the eyes of a person with dementia. Local shop owners, restaurant, grocery store, and market place workers, as well as roadways, can be equipped to provide safe places for those with dementia to live more independently.

Techniques to create this kind of environment, will be discussed. Once local leaders and the public become educated about dementia, those with dementia will be understood, accepted and less likely to become confused and isolated as their disease progresses.

Lunch will follow the program. Seating is limited. Please reserve early by calling, 804-438-4175 or by emailing, info@rw-c.org by Thursday, November 8, 2018.
